Dominique Jones

Program Coordinator

Dominique Jones is a public health professional with extensive experience in community health, health policy, and program management. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Public Health from Dillard University and a Master’s degree in Public Health with a concentration in Health Policy from The University of Chicago. Dominique’s work focuses on addressing health disparities in underserved communities through innovative programming, strategic partnerships, and community-driven solutions.

Early in her career, during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, Dominique served as a Program Planning Specialist with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). She supported Kansas City Health Department’s COVID-19 outreach efforts, overseeing six testing and vaccination sites and managing partnerships with four safety net providers. Dominique also played a pivotal role in developing the Kansas City Community Health Improvement Plan (CHIP) for 2022-2027, a collaborative five-year strategy to address critical health issues identified by community members.

During her academic career at the University of Chicago, Dominique identified a critical need to address health disparities in Chicago’s underserved communities, including South Shore, Greater Grand Crossing, and Woodlawn. She spearheaded cardiovascular health “pop-ups” at local food pantries, providing education and services to those in need. Under her leadership, these initiatives expanded through partnerships with churches and community centers, broadening their reach and impact. Alongside her cardiovascular health efforts, Dominique also contributed to the University of Chicago’s Harm Reduction Program, which aims to reduce the stigma surrounding drug use and combat overdose deaths through Narcan education and access. Her work emphasized fostering safe, informed spaces to support harm reduction strategies in vulnerable populations.

Dominique’s ability to bridge academic knowledge with grassroots community work has cemented her reputation as a passionate and effective public health leader, championing efforts that empower communities through education, advocacy, and access to essential health resources.
